The New York apple industry has donated $25,000 to cancer charities.
Grower-shippers and retailers collaborated to donate $20,000 to the American Cancer Society and $5,000 to the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation, according to a news release from the Fishers-based New York Apple Association.
Since 2000, the industry has raised $322,457 for cancer research.
This year, growers partnered with 34 retailers in New York, Massachusetts, Ohio and Pennsylvania on the fundraiser.
