Volumes of Meyer lemons from New Zealand are expected to rise this season for importer Giumarra Wenatchee.
The company, a division of Los Angeles-based The Giumarra Cos., expects the first vessel arrivals of the season in late June or early July, according to a company news release.
Customers looking to get an earlier start on the deal can get Meyers from Giumarra by air shipment. The company expects product to be available through September.
In the release, Jason Bushong, Giumarra Wenatchee’s sales manager, reported good quality and size profile on the 2012 crop of New Zealand Meyers. Meyers are sweeter than other lemons and have a floral aroma.
This is the fifth year Giumarra has imported Meyers from New Zealand.
