GONZALES, Calif. – Howard Roeder will succeed Ray De Riggi as president of Dole Fresh Vegetables, a move that comes as Dole plans to close its Gonzales cooling and warehouse operation.
“Ray De Riggi and some members of his senior leadership team will be retiring,” Bil Goldfield, director of corporate communications for Dole Food Co., said May 19.
Roeder, currently senior vice president of strategy and finance, has been promoted to president of Monterey-based Dole Fresh Vegetables.
“Dole Fresh Vegetables will be closing the Gonzales facility in an effort to streamline operations and efficiency,” Goldfield said.
Operations and some employees will move to Dole’s Marina facility about 25 miles away, a process expected to last through the end of June.
The Marina site employs about 100.
