The Premium, already available in Europe, is a pollinator variety. Unlike other polinators, it can be harvested as a marketable fruit. The Premium has edible seeds and ships well, according to the release.
During the National Watermelon Association convention, Premium watermelon will be served in the appetizer course at the Feb. 21 dinner.
Nunhems is the brand name of the vegetable seed business of Bayer CropScience. The company has created varieties of 28 vegetables, including carrots, cucumbers, leeks, lettuce, melons, onions, peppers and tomatoes.
