Ocean Mist Farms is marking its 90th anniversary this year. It was founded in 1924 as California Artichoke and Vegetable Growers Corp.
“(Ocean Mist) has pioneered the commercial planting and shipping of artichokes in Castroville, and today it is recognized as the largest artichoke operation in the United States,” Denice Barker Amerison, executive director of Artichoke Festivals Inc. and the North Monterey County Chamber of Commerce, said in a news release.
The company’s reputation for quality and community involvement merited the award, she said.
