The 90-day giveaway started March 1, around when Ocean Mist’s heirloom variety started production. Its ending will coincide with the May 31 start of the Castroville Artichoke Festival in Monterey, Calif.
Members of the grower-shippers Artichoke Club receive daily notices to enter the giveaway via texts, Twitter or Facebook posts. Entry is limited to consumers who join the club, which has almost 40,000 members, according to a news release.
“We wanted a unique way to celebrate our 90th anniversary with our artichoke fans this season and the one thing our artichoke club members respond to most is the opportunity to win free artichokes,” Kori Tuggle, director of marketing and business development, said in the release.
