The Leamington association invited 27 healthcare foodservice operations in the province to participate, according to a news release. Halton Healthcare Services Oakville Memorial Hospital earned top honors as the winner.
For the contest, the association provided participating foodservice operators with recipes and merchandising materials. The competing foodservice operations used the materials to launch cafeteria initiatives and design promotional displays for locally grown vegetables.
“OGVG has been pleased to be part of this promotion with Ontario healthcare cafeterias, and we look forward to working with other foodservice partners in the future,” association chairman Don Taylor said in a news release.
“In a competitive market, these new partnerships that expand and support our produce in the foodservice marketplace will help sustain Ontario agriculture and our Ontario greenhouse vegetable farmers.”
