Josh Leichter, a 10-year veteran of The Oppenheimer Group, has left the company to join another imported fruit specialist, Reedley, Calif.-based Pacific Trellis Fruit LLC.
Leichter, who most recently was East Coast vice president and grape category director for Vancouver, British Columbia-based Oppenheimer, left Oppenheimer’s Newark, Del., office April 27 and joined Pacific Trellis as the company’s general manager May 2.
Leichter, who will work out of Pacific Trellis’s Los Angeles office, said he was excited by the company’s growth potential.
“I saw an opportunity to be with a company that’s in growth mode, and I look forward to playing a part in leading that growth,” he said. “Pacific Trellis has a lot of great relationships in place with growers, retailers, wholesalers and foodservice companies.”
Before joining Oppenheimer in 2002, Leichter worked for Orlando, Fla.-based World Commerce Online; C.H. Robinson Co., Eden Prairie, Minn.; and F.P.D. Inc., Sherman Oaks, Calif.
Bill Poulos, a 27-year Oppenheimer veteran, has been appointed the company’s director of import grapes, overseeing the procurement and marketing of fruit from Chile, Brazil and Peru, said Karin Gardner, the company’s marketing communications manager.
Poulos also will continue to serve as sales manager in Oppenheimer’s Newark office.
In addition, Marc Serpa has been appointed Oppenheimer’s director of domestic grapes, managing the company’s California and Mexican grape programs, Gardner said. Serpa has been with Oppenheimer for eight years.
