The peer-nominated honors, presented by the Staffordshire, Great Britain, publication, recognize companies worldwide for their success and innovation, according to a news release.
“It is certainly a compliment to have been chosen,” John Anderson, Oppy’s chairman, president and chief executive officer, said in the release. “As our business continues to grow overseas through our export programs, we are well-positioned for the opportunities ahead.”
Among Oppy’s 2013 highlights were a joint venture with Total Produce, the introduction of North America’s first Fair Trade Certified pepper program from Sun Select, and the launch of new products like the Papple — a red cross between a European and asian pear — and the Chilean RR1 plum.
In addition to this most recent award, the firm has been named one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies since 2001, and has been a member of the Platinum Club since 2008. The club honors companies on the list for six years or more.
