The Oppenheimer Group has been named one of Canada’s best managed companies for the 12th year in a row.
Vancouver, British Columbia-based Oppy is a winner of the annual Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies award, according to a company news release.
Oppy joins two Kingsville, Ontario-based greenhouse vegetable shippers, JemD Farms and Mastronardi Produce, as produce industry winners of the annual award.
The award is sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC Commercial Banking, The National Post, MacKay CEO Forums and Queen’s School of Business.
“A dozen years is a long time for any company to perform at the top of its game,” John Anderson, Oppy’s chairman, president and chief executive officer, said in the release. “It’s an honor to be recognized again among the best. It’s a testament to our strategy, and the growers and customers who help us bring it to life. But most of all, it is earned by our people...”
Applications for the award are reviewed by an independent judging panel that evaluates how companies address various business challenges, including new technologies, globalization, brand management, leadership, leveraging and developing core competencies, designing information systems and hiring the right talent.
With its victory Oppy renewed its Platinum Club member status for the fifth year in a row.
