Orbis acquires Corbi Plastics

Orbis Corp. has acquired Cartonplast LLC’s interest in the companies’ Corbi Plastics LLC joint venture. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Cartonplast and Orbis formed Corbi Plastics in 2005. Corbi Plastics operates a manufacturing facility in DeForest, Wis., and eleven service centers nationwide, according to a news release.

Besides making solid and plastic corrugated sheet packaging, the company owns and manages pools of plastic reusable pallets, top frames and divider sheets that protect food and beverages during storage and distribution.

Corbi Plastics, which has about 110 U.S. employees, manages transportation, facilitates cleaning and tracks assets.

Orbis Corp., a subsidiary of Menasha Corp. is based in Oconomowoc, Wis. Corbi Plastics is in Madison, Wis., and Cartonplast is in DeForest, Wis.

“This will expand Orbis’ service capabilities, with additional locations to better serve a wider group of customers,” Bill Ash, company president, said in the release.
