Organics Unlimited uses every September to celebrate GROW Month, when the company focuses on philanthropic programs for the people who grow and harvest the company’s products.
This year marks the ninth anniversary for GROW — Giving Resources and Opportunities to Workers.
“Every year we see GROW Month expand among our customers,” Mayra Velazquez de Leon, president and founder of Organics Unlimited and GROW, said in a news release. “I have nothing but gratitude towards the enthusiasm and support our customers show for GROW.”
GROW Month is an important part of retailer Organics Unlimited promotions. The company has already raised more than $1 million to support scholarships, educational programs and health clinics in the banana growing regions of Ecuador and Mexico.
GROW support increased by nearly 250% from 2012 to 2013. This year, the program has raised almost $200,000. The funds go to Children International and Project Amigo to help build opportunites for workers, their families and communities.
Organics Unlimited offers free point-of-purchase materials for customers, including header cards and recipes. All items are available in the company’s online store (http://organicsunlimited.com/merchandising/pop.html) for download.
“It is very important to us that our customers have all the essential tools and information they need to raise the awareness of the GROW program to encourage the efforts supported with the purchase of every organic GROW banana,” Velazquez de Leon said in the release. “We are all working together to change lives for the better.”
