Door to Door Organics Inc. took a step further in corporate accountability and transparency with its recent B Corp certification.
The 7-year-old company, which started as a produce delivery service in Lafayette, Colo., and has expanded services with operations in Colorado, Illinois, Missouri, Michigan and Pennsylvania, achieved B Corp Certification through Berwyn, Pa.-based B Lab.
Certified B Corporations, according to a news release, “redefine what it means to be a successful corporation and use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.”
“The goal for us is multi-fold,” said Chad Arnold, president and chief executive officer. “B Corp certification is really about creating some visibility, transparency and accountability for our corporate practices. We do a pretty good job organizationally and work with people who are invested in who we are and what we do.
The company also recently secured a $2 million investment from Boulder, Colo.-based Greenmont Capital. Arnold said the investment will be used for infrastructure improvements, such services like the company’s Shop by Recipe platform.
“For us, this is definitely more focused on the customer experience, offering operational and service level changes,” he said. “We’re going to make significant improvements in our shopper interface.”
The company plans to expand its delivery area, he said.
