A discussion of growing organically is scheduled for a Google+ Hangout on May 14.
The online event is set for 1 p.m. EDT and is open to all via registration through the U.S. Department of Agriculture, according to a news release.
National Organic Program specialist Betsy Rakola is the featured presenter; other participants include organic growers, certifiers, researchers and leaders from community organizations.
Attendees can ask questions in advance on Twitter by using #AskUSDA.
Three topics are featured for the Google+ Hangout event:
- Marketplace opportunities for growers interested in organic certification;
- Challenges growers face when converting from conventional to organic production; and
- UDSA’s efforts to increase the number of certified organic operations in the U.S.
To participate, attendees can RSVP online on the USDA’s Google+ page at: https://plus.google.com/+UsdaGov/posts. You can also watch the Hangout live on the department’s Web page at: www.usda.gov/live.
