Walter Yager of Miami-based Alpine Fresh was recently elected co-chairman of the Peruvian Asparagus Importers Association.

The Peruvian Asparagus Importers Association recently announced the new leaders of their board. Brian Miller of Los Angeles-based Gourmet Trading Co. and Walter Yager of Miami-based Alpine Fresh were elected co-chairman of the association.

Miller serves his first term as West Coast co-chairman and Yager continues to serve as East Coast co-chairman after reelection in October.

Both Miller and Yager will lead the association’s efforts to improve trade with Peru and increase consumption of asparagus in the U.S. Recent accomplishments of the association include resolving trade issues with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and coordinating training events related to food safety and traceability.
