PMA foundation names Tip Murphy scholars

The recipients of the 2012 Produce Marketing Association Foundation for Industry Talent Tip Murphy Scholarships for Leadership Excellence are Kellen Stailey and Patrick Morris.

The 2012 awards mark the fourth year for the scholarship, which was established as a posthumous honor of produce industry veteran Terrence “Tip” Murphy.

Morris is a produce buyer for Rouses Supermarkets, Thibodaux, La. Stailey is senior manager of sales and marketing for Sunshine Bouquet Company, Dayton, N.J.

MurphyMargi Prueitt, executive director of the PMA Foundation said in a news release that Morris and Stailey demonstrate the character, leadership and commitment to the industry that “epitomizes Tip Murphy and the scholarship” that is named for him.

The scholarships cover registration and associated hotel expenses for any PMA or PMA Foundation’s professional development event, including the foundation’s Leadership Symposium, the Foodservice Conference & Exposition and the Fresh Summit International Convention & Exposition.
