Finalists for the Produce Marketing Association’s annual packaging awards have been chosen.
Twenty-five companies will compete in the 2012 Impact Awards: Excellence in Packaging, according to a news release from Newark, Del.-based PMA.
Winners will be announced Oct. 27 at PMA’s annual Fresh Summit International Convention & Exposition in Anaheim, Calif.
Finalists include:

- Fresh Direct Produce Ltd.;
- Holtzinger Fruit Co.;

- Mastronardi Produce;
- NatureSweet Ltd.;
- NNZ Inc.;
- Paramount Farms;
- Pure Hot House Foods Inc.;
- Ready Pac Foods;
- Rock Garden;
- Sunlight International Sales;
- Tanimura & Antle;
- The Greenery;
- Vortex Packaging Niagara Inc.;
- Wal-Mart Stores Inc.;
- Wholly Guacamole;
- Wm. Bolthouse Farms Inc.;
- Clear Lam Packaging Inc. LLC;

Judges for the competition also have been chosen. They include:
- Bridget Bennett, category manager/produce, Defense Commissary Agency;
- Kip Martin, produce and floral supervisor, Raley’s Family of Fine Stores;
- Ron McCormick, senior director of local and sustainable sourcing, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.;
- Pamela Riemenschneider, editor of Vance Publishing’s Produce Retailer and retail editor for The Packer; and
- Bob Whitaker, PMA chief science and technology officer.
