A technology solutions specialist has purchased the assets of a produce industry equipment maker.
Chicago-based JBT Corp. bought the assets of Visalia, Calif.-based Packer’s Manufacturing Inc., which makes equipment for produce packing houses, according to a JBT news release.
JBT provides technology solutions for the food processing and air transportation industries.
Adding Packer’s Manufacturing’s assets to JBT’s product mix is a perfect match for JBT, Steve Smith, JBT’s executive vice president and president of JBT FoodTech, said in the release.
“The line of equipment for the fresh produce packing industry offered by Packer’s Manufacturing is complementary to JBT’s existing product portfolio, and will allow us to offer a complete suite of products to our packing house customers,” Smith said.
The acquisition will allow JBT to combine its service specialty with Packer’s technology, Smith said.
Packer’s Manufacturing’s products include bin handling systems, volume fillers and palletizers.
JBT’s FoodTech division designs, manufactures and services high-tech systems and products for industrial food processors.
