President and chief executive officer of the National Wooden Pallet & Container Association, Brent McClendon, has named Patrick Atagi as vice president of advocacy and external affairs.
Atagi previously worked for NorthStar Policy Navigation, where he most recently worked as managing partner of the firm. He will start at the association on Aug. 4. In his position, he will be responsible for developing and delivering association messaging, raising and maintaining a high profile for the association and cultivating new programs and services, according to a news release.
His career in advocacy spans more than 20 years, with work in Washington, D.C. At one point, he was building wooden packaging containers for his family’s 400-acre Oregon farm.
“Patrick will be a tremendous asset to the association through his extensive experience, contacts, and knowledge in managing significant agricultural and environmental issues,” McClendon said in the release.
“The NWPCA is a well-respected and effective voice for the wood packaging industry,” Atagi said in the release. “I’m excited to become a part of this industry whose product truly does move the world.”
