ITW Warehouse Automation, Arden, N.C., has introduced Swift Pick proprietary software for hand-pick warehouse operators working with either flow-rack or higher-level pallet racking.
The computer program allows them to use hand-held mobile devices or tablets as case-picking monitors rather than overhead monitors adjacent to their pick areas, according to a news release.
With Swift Pick, they have their list at hand as they go up and down the aisles and no longer have to refer back to the monitors.
They also can view several picks at a time rather than a single one.
As a result, they’re able to pick at a pace that keeps the conveyor full of product, increasing the overall per-hour units moving through the system, according to the release.
The system also can be set up to alert operators when additional pick support is needed in the warehouse.
The software is intuitive and can be set up in a matter of hours, according to the release. It also requires minimal training and can be incorporated into new or existing systems.
