“We’ve been focusing on Valentine’s Day for several seasons with a major stress on giving a loved one a gift box of Pink Lady brand Apples,” Alan Taylor, marketing director, Pink Lady America LLC, Yakima, Wash., said in a news release. “But with a recent Scripps Networks Interactive’s Great American Country Lifestyle report showing apple pie as the No. 1 dessert and by a wide margin, we decided to move in a different direction this year.”
That partner is Bob Red’s Mill, and Taylor said Pink Lady and the milling, packaging and distribution company will partner on a recipe treat — Pink Lady Tarte Tatin — that will be promoted for Valentine’s Day and through early March. The “easy as pie” recipe, Taylor said, includes Bob’s Red Mill wheat-free, gluten-free and dairy-free pie crust mix and 2 pounds of Pink Lady apples.
Pink Lady America and Milwaukie, Ore.-based Bob’s Red Mill will use the Bob’s Red Mill blog to get the word out on the co-promotion along with their Facebook, website and e-mail lists, according to the news release.
“We’re really looking forward to working with Cassidy Stockton and Bob’s Red Mill in what we see as just the first step,” Taylor said in the release. “Bob’s Red Mill has a lot of other products also working very well with Pink Lady.”
