Courtesy AugustineIdeasPink Ribbon Produce, a retail program that supports breast cancer education and fundraising, will return to more than 500 Harris Teeter, Meijer and Price Chopper stores in October.
The effort pairs the three grocers with produce suppliers to raise money for local Susan G. Komen for the Cure affiliates.
Stores will direct shoppers to participating suppliers with a Pink Ribbon Produce icon on posters and point-of-sale signs, according to a news release. Suppliers donate a flat dollar amount or a percentage based on sales during the promotion.
Supplier partners for Pink Ribbon Produce include Alpine Fresh, Apio, Beachside Produce, Chilean Avocado Importers Association, Calavo, Chiquita Brands International, Country Fresh, Custom Pak, Del Monte Fresh Produce, Dole, Earthbound Farm, Fowler Packing, Highline Mushrooms, Mastronardi, Mission Produce, Nature’s Way, NatureSweet, NewStar Fresh Foods, Paramount Citrus, POM Wonderful, Santa Cruz Berry Farming Co., Santa Sweets, Seald Sweet, Southern Specialties, Sunlight and Westmoreland.

“Pink Ribbon Produce brings together grocery retailers, produce partners and consumers to support a cause that directly impacts thousands within our communities,” Debbie Augustine, chief executive officer of AugustineIdeas, said in the release. “This program helps fund research for a cure, educates women on the importance of early detection and provides grants for those without insurance who need to get screened.”
Komen for the Cure helps women obtain screenings, tests and treatments for breast cancer.
