Pink Ribbon Produce, a retail program that raises funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, is returning to more than 500 Harris Teeter, Meijer and Price Chopper stores.

It starts Oct. 7. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The stores plan to direct shoppers to more than 20 participating suppliers with a Pink Ribbon Produce icon on posters and point-of-sale signs. Proceeds benefit the foundation.

Consumers can also donate directly by texting 80077 with “Pink HT” for Harris Teeter, “Pink M” for Meijer or “Pink PC” for Price Chopper, according to a news release.

AugustineIdeas, Roseville, Calif., manages the fundraising program for the retailers.

“Pink Ribbon Produce brings together grocery retailers, produce partners and consumers to support a cause that directly impacts one in eight women across the U.S.,” Debbie Augustine, chief executive officer of AugustineIdeas, said in the release.
