Polymer Logistics U.S. is offering a plastic crate that looks like wood for retailers who want produce departments to reflect a market fresh feel versus other plastic crates.

The crate is ideal for retailers who want to provide a farm fresh impression for their produce, according to a news release from the Riverside, Calif.-based retail-ready packaging manufacturer.

The foldable and stackable crates provide protection during transport and an active lock system allows store personnel to efficiently handle the crates, according to the release.

The crates are more cost-effective and hygienic compared to real wood crates, according to the release.

“If retailers truly want to offer their customers that market fresh look, then they need to find an alternative to the generic plastic crate that is prevalent in every retail produce aisle,” Adrian Dale, Polymer Logistics UK’s managing director, said in the release. “We believe this represents a major breakthrough in terms of store enhancements and are confident that if retailers invest in the wood effect crate, they will see a major uplift in sales.”
