Pure Hothouse Foods Inc. is voluntarily recalling fresh-cut vegetable grilling trays in Canada and the U.S. because of possible listeria contamination of whole and sliced mushrooms.
No illnesses have been linked to the recalled products, which include 1,402 cases of the fresh-cut trays and 8,412 individually distributed units. The recalled products are packaged under the Meijer and Pure Flavor brands. Sell-by dates on the products range from Aug. 11-26.
In the U.S., three varieties of the products under the Meijer brand were distributed to retailers in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky, according to the recall notice. Four varieties were distributed in the Canadian province of Ontario, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
Pure Hothouse Foods, Leamington, Ontario, stated in a recall notice on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration website that listeria had been confirmed in finished product, which is marketed in 14-ounce trays.
“Pure Hothouse Foods Inc. customer service representatives have already contacted all customers impacted and are in the process of confirming that the recalled products are not in the stream of commerce,” states the notice on the FDA website.
The Meijer brand products and their Universal Price Codes are: “Grillers Mushroom with Rosemary” 7-08820-85464-2; “Grillers Steak Topper” 7-08820-85468-0; and “Grillers Asparagus Blend” 7-08820-85353-9.
In Canada, the four recalled products and their UPCs are: Premium Medley 6 84924 06001 4; Asparagus Blend 6 84924 06012 0; Rustic Blend 6 84924 06003 8; and Steak Topper 6 84924 06002.
