Pile on the Produce, a contest in which retailers build displays pairing Potandon’s Klondike potatoes with other fresh produce items, is set to launch Aug. 19 and run through Sept. 30, according to a news release from Idaho Falls, Idaho-based Potandon.
The contest coincides with children going back to school, according to the release. Potandon’s Klondike Rose potatoes are the only fresh potato product bearing the Box Tops for Education logo.
For the contest, Potandon will provide point-of-sale kits with a variety of signs to aid retailers with displays. Retailers can order point-of-sale materials at www.klondikebrands.com/point-of-sale-kit.
Retail entries will be broken down by store size: 1-5 cash registers, 6–10 cash registers and more than 10 cash registers.
Winners will be chosen in all three categories. First place pays $1,000, second place $750 and third place $500.
Displays must be entered online by October 4, 2013 at www.klondikebrands.com/display-entry.
In addition, consumers can register to win an Apple iPad2. One winner per week will be chosen in September.
