The Idaho Potato Commission has selected winners for its Potato Lover’s Month Retail Display Contest.

Marysville, Ohio-based Community Market took first place among stores with 1-5 cash registers for their display, Fuel Up with the World Famous Idaho Potatoes.

Sweetbay Supermarket, Spring Hill, Fla., won first prize in the 6-9 register category with a heart-healthy themed display.

Publix Super Market #567, Fort Pierce, Fla., won the 10-plus registers division with it’s health-themed display.

Fort Bragg South Commissary, Fort Bragg, N.C., took top honors in the eastern military division while Kaneohe Commissary, MCBH Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, won the western military division.

First- through fifth-prize winners were awarded in each category and 100 honorable mentions were also given out, all with cash prizes. All entrants received an iPod docking station.

“It’s a win-win situation for retailers when they enter the contest,” Seth Pemsler, vice president of retail/international, said. “During what is traditionally a slow month, they can give Idaho potato sales a big boost with a creative, attention-getting retail display. And retailers have a chance to win substantial cash prizes, including a matching cash prize for the store’s category manager.”
