The National Potato Council is accepting applications for a master’s-level scholarship.

The scholarship award is $10,000, up from $5,000 last year, to reflect the growing tuition costs.

Each year, the Washington, D.C.-based council awards one scholarship to a graduate student pursuing advanced studies that will improve the future of the potato industry.

Applications are due June 14.

“Scholarships like these have played a critical role in providing research results and the opportunity to receive training,” Sarah Rosenthal Braun, a scholarship recipient, said in a news release. “Currently, I am working on a very exciting project where we have identified major quantitative trait loci for resistance to common scab and cold induced sweetening in potato.”
