The Alliance for Potato Research and Education, McLean, Va., has a new website — www.apre.org — highlighting the nutrition benefits of potatoes.

Visitors will have access to updated news and information on the site, including original scientific briefs, a video library featuring potato nutrition advice from registered dietitians, and industry and government links, according to a news release.

“The new website is an easy-to-use resource for registered dietitians and medical practitioners, such as medical doctors, nurses and physician assistants, aimed at keeping these professionals well informed about new scientific data related to the potato prepared in all forms,” said Maureen Storey, APRE president and chief executive officer, in the release.

APRE, a not-for-profit research and education organization, was established by the potato industry a year ago to counter negative health information about potatoes in the media.
