PrimusLabs, Santa Maria, Calif. has announced that the PrimusGFS Standard version 2.1 audit scheme has been benchmarked to the Consumer Goods Forum’s Global Food Safety Initiative Guidance Document Sixth Edition.

The benchmarking process to the GFSI sixth edition features strengthened requirements for the management of food safety plans in an expanded document that  covers  primary production, processing and supporting activities in a more robust way, according to a news release from GFSI.
Azzule Systems’ PrimusGFS standard is the only privately-held food safety auditing scheme to meet GFSI standards, according to the release from PrimusLabs.
PrimusGFS Standard scheme aligns directly with PrimusLabs’ mission to primarily serve the fresh produce industry and the entire supply chain, covering pre-harvest and post-harvest production, cooling, packing, processing and storing, according to the PrimusLabs release.
“We’re very happy on behalf of our customers to see GFSI and Azzule Systems make this announcement,” Javier Sollozo, PrimusLabs director of auditing operations, said in the release. “As a privately-held scheme, PrimusGFS is responsive to its customers first and foremost and I think that’s why we’ll continue to see success with it as a certifying body.”
