PrimusLabs now has accreditation for its microbiological laboratories in the U.S. for pathogen testing of water and minimally processed fresh produce.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) accreditation “will afford (Primus) greater recognition among global business interests,” according to a news release from the Santa Maria, Calif., company.
Robert Stovicek, president and CEO of Primus Group Inc., said in the Aug. 1 release that the accreditation “is an acknowledgment of our continued excellence in food safety testing.”
“As we continue to see outbreaks in the news … having this advanced technology included under the accreditation will serve to propagate advanced laboratory practices and validate the food safety programs of our clients,” Stovicek said in the release.
Three satellite labs in addition to the company’s main lab are included in the accreditation, which is effective through March 31, 2016. The main lab is accredited to test for 10 pathogens, according to a document included with the news release.
The Primus labs in Salinas, Calif., and Belle Glade, Fla., are both accredited for testing of seven pathogens in water and minimally processed fresh produce. The lab in Yuma, Ariz., is accredited to test for six pathogens, according to the accreditation document.
