Moving northward, Pro*Act has added a Canadian produce distributor.
Edmonton, Alberta-based Fresh Forward has joined the Monterey, Calif.-based Pro*Act.
Fresh Forward late last year changed its name from Northern Light Produce Network. It distributes to customers in Edmonton, Calgary, central and northern Alberta, the Northwest Territories and the Yukon, according to a news release.
Started by Harlan Light in the 1980s, Craig Mackenzie bought the distributor in 2003.
“We are proud to be the first Western Canadian member of Pro*Act,” president Mackenzie said in the release. “Fresh is what we do, so our cultures match up. We feel privileged to come on board with such a respected and dynamic company as Pro*Act and are excited to be able to benefit from their food safety, supply chain management and sustainability expertise as we continue to grow our company.”
Lloyd Ligier, Pro*Act’s vice president of business development, said Fresh Forward is a “strong, well-run company,” in the release.
