Procacci gives record donations to food relief group

Procacci Bros. Sales Corp. is increasing contributions to Philabundance, the Delaware Valley’s largest hunger relief group.

Procacci Bros.From October 2011 to September 2012, the Philadelphia-based Procacci Bros. donated more than a half of million pounds of produce to the organization, up from 18,917 pounds in 2010-11.

The contribution marks a record for Procacci, according to a news release.

On top of trailer-load donations, Procacci also assisted with weekly fresh donations helping Philabundance’s Community Kitchen, a culinary arts vocational training program that trains people in basic culinary skills and provides job placement support, according to the release.

In the release, Procacci president Mike Maxwell said the grower and distributor is proud to see its relationship with Philabundance grow, particularly during tough economic times.

Bill Clark, Philabundance’s president and executive director, said Procacci remains dedicated in the fight against hunger.
