Indianapolis Colts mascot Blue and Lori Taylor, aka the Produce Mom, will take the stage at Danville South Elementary School to promote nutrition.
followed by a fruit and veggie snack in the Danville South cafeteria. During the show,
Taylor plans to engage students with interactive games that educate on nutrition. The Find Your Favorite campaign encourages children to try fruits and vegetables, using the Produce for Better Health Foundation’s Fruits & Veggies — More Matters messaging and U.S. Department of Agriculture’s MyPlate standards.
The program also includes public safety officers, stars of the arts, and athletes from organizations including the National Football League, NASCAR and National Basketball Association. Each hero promotes their favorite fruit or vegetable, encouraging kids to choose their favorite fresh produce.
“The Indianapolis Colts have been a great partner on the Find Your Favorite program. With Blue, the Colts mascot, already being a very popular Find Your Favorite Hero, it just made sense to bring the program to life through an interactive show. I’m eager to see how the program continues to develop with the help and generosity of the Indianapolis Colts,” Taylor said in a news release.
The program originated in the Indianapolis Public School system, but expansion plans include 10,000 elementary schools nationwide in 2014.
