Lori Taylor, also known as food blogger The Produce Mom, is highlighting healthy menu choices at all McAlister’s Deli locations in Indiana.
Lori Taylor, blogger and spokeswoman for Indianapolis Fruit Co. known as The Produce Mom, is partnering with McAlister's Deli locations in Indiana in a pilot program dubbed "Produce Mom Picks" designed to encourage consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables.The March 3 launch of The Produce Mom Picks Menu and rewards program at the state’s 16 McAlister Deli locations could expand to all of McAlister’s 350 locations in 38 states, Taylor said. She is the blogger for the Indianapolis Fruit Co., Indianapolis.
“We are not making health claims. We simply want to encourage people to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables,” Taylor said of her Picks Menu.
“McAlister’s is really working hard to help. They used to have an up-charge for fresh fruit and veggie sides on kids’ meals. They did away with that and don’t have any other cost increases to make up for it.”
The program includes a punch card that can earn free meals, with a punch for every time consumers order:
- An item from The Produce Mom Picks Menu;
- A side dish of steamed vegetables or a fruit cup; or
- A children's menu item that includes a fruit or vegetable side.
“McAlister’s Deli is committed to providing our customers with fresh food that is made how they want, right when it is ordered. That’s why partnering with The Produce Mom made so much sense,” said Charles Hensley, chief executive officer of McIndy Ventures, which operates the McAlister’s Deli franchises in Indiana.
