Hilary Martin and Produce Mom Lori Taylor took to the television airwaves in Indianapolis to promote the Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools initiative in the Midwest.
Using an actual salad bar as a prop, the two appeared on Channel 8’s Indy Style show Aug. 21 to discuss the United Fresh Produce Association’s nationwide effort to get a salad bar in every school.
Martin, business development manager for Poseyville, Ill.-based Frey Farms, is a captain of the campaign to increase salad bars in Midwestern schools.
During the segment, she and Taylor talked with show hosts Tracy Former and Andi Houser about how the salad bar program meets U.S. Department of Agriculture school lunch requirements. They also addressed concerns expressed initially by school cafeteria managers.
“It’s just us helping them get salad bars into their schools — once it’s in, they love it,” Martin told the hosts.
