Two produce firms have been awarded Department of Defense contracts to supply fresh fruits and vegetables to school and military customers in Ohio and California.
Produce One Inc., Dayton, Ohio, was awarded a $36 million (maximum) contract by Philadelphia-based Defense Logistics Agency to supply fresh fruits and vegetables to school customers in Ohio, according to a news release from the Department of Defense. Produce One Inc. was awarded the contract in competition with two other firms, according to the release. The completion date of the 18-month contract is Aug. 5, 2015, with two 18-month option periods.
San Diego-based Coast Citrus Distributors was awarded a $35.2 million (maximum) contract by the Defense Logistics Agency to supply fresh fruits and vegetables to California Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps customers. Coast Citrus won the 18-month contract in competition with three other companies, according to the news release. The contract will have a July 20, 2015 completion data with two 18-month option periods, according to the release.
