Produce for Kids is celebrating the launch of its new website with a big party through social media. “Attendees” can chat with industry leaders, bloggers and interested parents by logging onto Twitter.
The Virtual Launch Party begins at 9 p.m. Oct. 22 with the hashtag #ProduceforKids to connect the conversation. Topics like healthy snacking for kids and adding more produce into meal plans will be discussed throughout the two-day party. The organization’s media partner, Sprout, provided “The Chica Show” themed gift baskets for giveaways during the party. Participants can also use the Produce for Kids blog or forum, via www.produceforkids.com, to join the conversation.
Produce for Kids hopes to recreate past social media success with the social media event.
“Our past Twitter parties have averaged 2.3 million impressions and have opened a gateway for us to connect directly with parents,” said vice president Trish James in a news release.
The new website, which launched Oct. 21, features dietician-approved recipes, tips for produce shopping, and a blog and a forum for visitors to exchange healthy eating information.
