Wendy’s International Inc., is introducing two salads that feature additional fresh vegetables and is also updating its garden side salad.
Promoting fresh ingredients, the Dublin, Ohio-based fast-food chain offers Asian cashew chicken and BBQ ranch chicken salads as new permanent menu items.
Both full-sized salads include a lettuce blend of 11 field greens, according to a March 10 news release.
The Asian salad also includes fresh-sliced cucumbers and red peppers, fire-roasted edamame and a chopped grilled chicken breast fillet, according to the release.
Marketed as a “backyard barbeque in a bowl,” the barbecue chicken salad pays homage to grilled corn on the cob with fire-roasted corn and other ingredients often found around the grill including freshly diced tomatoes and a grilled chicken breast fillet which adds “the perfect amount of heat against cool produce,” according to the release.
Craig Bahner, Wendy’s chief marketing officer, said the company prepares the fresh salads daily in the restaurants.
Wendy’s is adding sliced cucumbers and red peppers to its garden side salad.
The side salad includes the lettuce blend, grape tomatoes, cucumbers and red peppers, according to the release.
The Asian salad also features spicy roasted cashews dusted with garlic, onion and sea salt and Asian chili vinaigrette. The barbecue salad also has shredded cheddar cheese, barbecue ranch dressing and a honey barbeque sauce, according to the release.
