RJO Produce Marketing has upgraded its Bird Dog quality-control technology.
Algorithms used to help RJO’s customers order their produce based on a variety of quality measures have been reviewed and modified, according to a news release from the Fresno, Calif., company.
Size, color, solidity, brix level and overall appearance are among the quality measures RJO stores in a database, which can then be accessed by the company’s customers using its Bird Dog app.
“Our customers establish the baseline,” RJO’s executive vice president of sales marketing, Rob O’Rourke, said in the release. “They determine the quality attributes which are most important to them and their consumers. The customer ranks the key attributes and weights the importance.”
