RWI Trucking LLC of Wilder, Ky., has reduced the turnover rate of their trucking staff through driver retention strategy. The company has spent the last 18 months addressing the turnover problem that greatly effects the industry,
RWI has lowered and maintained a driver turnover rate of 83% during the second quarter of this year, according to a news release. This is a significant drop from the industry average of 99% turnover rate for large truckload fleets, according to the most recent American Trucking Associations’ Trucking Activity Report. RWI operates with a carrier staff solely made up of owner-operators. Industry reports for 100% owner operator categories place the turnover rate at around 115%.
“Since we began our driver retention efforts, we’ve been encouraged by the amount of positive feedback we’ve received from our owner operators,” said RWI driver retention specialist, Tom Curee, in a news release. “They’ve helped to identify challenges they’re facing and have provided solutions that have enabled us to provide a better experience for our owner operators.”
