Ready Pac expands Bistro Bowl salad line

Courtesy Ready Pac Foods Ready Pac Foods Inc. is adding three new varieties to its Bistro Bowl line of single-serving salads: Asian Style Chicken, Caesar Lite and Mediterranean.

They have fewer than 230 calories each, according to a news release from the Irwindale, Calif., company.

  • Asian Style Chicken includes romaine and iceberg lettuce, roasted chicken, shredded carrots and cabbage, diced celery and wonton strips. It has a carrot ginger miso dressing.
  • Mediterranean features romaine lettuce, garbanzo beans, green olives, sun-dried tomatoes and feta cheese with a roasted red bell pepper vinaigrette.
  • Caesar Lite combines chopped romaine, roasted chicken, crunchy flatbread and shredded parmesan cheeese with a yogurt Caesar dressing.

“These chef-inspired recipes follow culinary trends in the foodservice sector and include gourmet toppings, dressings and a protein to provide great taste in addition to nutrition,” Tristan Simpson, director of marketing, said in the release.

Ready Pac claims a 73% share of sales in the single-serve, ready-to-eat packaged salad category. The category has grown 18% in the last year, according to the release.

“The segment represents over $100 million in retail sales and helps give consumers additional choices when deciding what to pack for their brown bag lunches,” Simpson said in the release.
