“(It) is a perfect fit for Ready Pac consumers who are ready to up their game with superfoods, but need a little help navigating their options,” Tristan Simpson, vice president of corporate communications at the Irwindale, Calif.-based shipper, said in a news release.
Ingredients include baby spinach, red and green chard, baby kale, and baby arugula.
Dollar sales of kale industrywide are up 250% since last year, according to Ready Pac. The International Dairy, Deli & Bakery Association reported last year that 76% of consumers say the health benefits of nutrient-dense foods like kale are the reason to eat them more often.
Ready Pac describes Baby Kale European Salad as a “gateway” offering for consumers turning to kale.
