Ready Pac Foods Inc. has begun nationwide retail distribution of organic versions of its Bistro Bowl salads line.
The four Bistro Organic salads are Orange Ginger Tofu, Caesar Cranberry, Zesty Harvest Grains and Honey Mustard Spinach, according to a news release. The single-serve bowls were introduced to the trade in May at United Fresh 2012.
“Single serve and organics are the two fresh-cut salad segments driving packaged salad category growth, with 17% and 11% growth over last year, respectively,” Tristan Simpson, director of marketing at Irwindale, Calif.-based Ready Pac, said in the release. “We’re aiming … at the sweet spot where these two segments, as well as consumer demand for organics and convenient meal solutions, all come together.”
Ready Pac produces the organic salads at California, Georgia and New Jersey plants. The produce and condiments are certified organic by Quality Assurance International.
The recipes were developed by chefs to offer a twist on traditional salad flavors such as Caesar, Simpson said.
