PMA Fresh Summit is Oct. 18-20 in New Orleans.

Fruit available from Sherman Oaks, Calif.-based Sunkist Growers is expected to include:

  • navel oranges from November to May;
  • cara cara navels from December to May;
  • moro oranges, also known as blood oranges, from December to mid-April; plus
  • year-round grapefruit and lemons.

Sunkist’s high-graphic lemon pouch bags will be on display at the PMA Fresh Summit new product showcase.

For trade show attendees, chef Jill Davie plans to serve two Sunkist recipes: orange chipotle pulled pork sandwiches and a bacon egg lemonaise sandwich.

Daily at the show’s afternoon happy hour, Sunkist will serve its grapefruit honey ginger fizz cocktail. The company has a grapefruit marketing campaign dubbed “Not Your Mother’s Grapefruit.”

The show lets trading partners see Sunkist’s offerings for the season, advertising and public relations manager Joan Wickham said in a news release.

For navels, Sunkist again offers holiday and Lunar New Year-themed 10-pound cartons. In Canada, Sunkist continues its retail hockey promotion. The grower-shipper partners with the Okanagan Hockey School with a consumer contest that gives children a chance to attend the school in Penticton, British Columbia. Sunkist will offer 10-pound cartons, Giro bags and 4-pound net bags touting the program.

Lil Snappers, smaller-sized fruits for children packed in 3-pound resealable pouches, a line done in collaboration with Stemilt Growers, also returns to the show.

Sunkist’s more than 35 citrus varieties include organic offerings.
