Renaissance Food Group expands Chef Essentials line

Courtesy Renaissance Food GroupRenaissance Food Group is adding two products to its Chef Essentials line of packaged fresh cut vegetable side dishes, along with quick-response codes that link to cooking videos and recipes.

Cacciatore Mix and Snap Pea Saute are new to the expanded line. It’s scheduled to launch in September in a nationwide retail distribution, said Rachelle Minor, marketing coordinator for the Rancho Cordova, Calif.-based company.

Cacciatore Mix includes red and green bell peppers, mushrooms, yellow onions and fresh garlic and herbs. Besides snap peas, Snap Pea Saute includes zucchini, squash and red onions.

Other products in the line include Asian Stir Fry, Seasoned Squash, Onion and Dill and Asparagus Saute.

“My favorite new feature is the addition of the QR scan cooking video that instantly shows me how to prepare, cook and serve,” said Jim Catchot, president, in a news release.

A review of recipes, cook times and packaging features led to the changes.

Renaissance Food Group, a subsidiary of Calavo Foods, plans to display Chef Essentials at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit booth (No. 3875) Oct. 14-17 in Atlanta.
