The Food Marketing Institute and the Retail Dietitians Business Alliance have introduced an online guide to help employers understand the role of retail dietitians in their stores.

The guide, “Hiring, Leveraging, and Empowering Retail Dietitians,” is designed to help Food Marketing Institute members train and empower retail dietitians.

The guide explains the role of a retail dietitian and includes sample job descriptions. It also gives advice on how to align a team of retail dietitians within a corporate structure based on retail size and markets, according to a news release.

“Retail dietitians are a filter of health information for customers and play an integral role in the store,” said Phil Lempert, chief executive officer of Retail Dietitians Business Alliance. “In addition to the employer, this tool kit also can help retail dietitians better define their jobs within the corporate structure.”
