Rockey Farms, Center, Colo., is the 2012 recipient of the Soil and Conservation Society’s Merit Award.

The award was presented on July 24 during the Conservation Society’s annual conference in Fort Worth, Texas, according to a news release.

“Our cleaner, greener farming gives us better yields, more consistent sizing and great color. That means a better product and a happier customer,” said Sheldon Rockey, operations manager in the release.

Rockey Farms is a founding member of the Speciality Potato Alliance.

Rockey Farms distributes on a year-round basis and provides seed to alliance growers throughout the country so their products will readily be available, according to the release. The alliance markets a variety of specialty and fingerling potatoes.
