Gerald “Jerry” Michael Hull, senior director of produce and floral for Sam’s Clubs, is being remembered as a leader and mentor in the retail produce industry.

Hull, 55, died Sept. 25 at his home in Lowell, Ark.

With more than 35 years of experience in the produce industry, Hull held a number of positions with Food Lion before making the transition to Sam’s Club in 1999 as divisional director over fresh operations for the Southeast. Hull was then promoted in 2001 to his senior director position, where he was instrumental in growing the produce and floral categories for Sam’s Club.

Hull is survived by his wife, Wendi, four children, two stepdaughters and 11 grandchildren.

Services were Oct. 3 in Indianapolis.

Family members suggest memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in his name.

All of us at Monterey are saddened to learn of Jerry's passing. We remember him and the work that he did to bring fresh produce to Sam's Club Membership. Jerry was both firm and fair.
