(CORRECTED Aug. 27) Bruce McEvoy, director of global affairs for Seald Sweet International and the UNIVEG Group, and former Arizona congressman Jim Kolbe are slated speakers at the Fresh Produce Association of the Americas convention.
The 46th annual trade event runs Oct. 30-Nov. 1 in Tubac, Ariz. A golf tournament will be on the last two days at Tubac Golf Resort & Spa.
On the first day, McEvoy’s topic will be global sourcing strategy. He is credited with helping to turn the citrus cooperative global in a series of deals culminating in a merger with the UNIVEG Group. The resulting company has $4 billion in annual sales, according to a news release.
Kolbe, a senior transatlantic fellow for the German Marshall Fund, plans to discuss how Arizona business can find success, including trade with Mexico.
The Pillars of the FPAA award ceremony is set for Oct. 31. The award recognizes industry excellence and service to the trade group.
“We strive to give everyone a great backdrop as they interact with their clients, suppliers, and friends in the industry,” FPAA president Lance Jungmeyer said in the release. “The produce business is very much based on relationships, and this is the event to nurture those relationships.”
Note on correction: McEvoy's title was misstated in the original story.
